Firstly, Description of the Graduating Student from the Department of biology:
- The graduate is an individual who has completed their academic studies in biological sciences and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Life Sciences. They possess detailed and precise specialized knowledge in their field and have gained extensive experience and scientific and technical knowledge applicable in the fields of medicine, public health, agriculture, food industries, and general biological knowledge. This knowledge enables them to engage in and successfully practice a profession related to their specialization.
Based on this descriptive concept, a graduate of Life Sciences should have the following knowledge:
- Possess broad and detailed knowledge about medical, health, agricultural, food industries, and environmental and natural systems.
- Have a wide understanding of biological, genetic, and vital concepts and laws in general.
- Be capable of analysis, differentiation, and accurate diagnosis in biological laboratory fields.
Secondly, The Adopted Academic System:
The academic system follows a semester-based approach for the second, third, and fourth stages, while the first stage implements the Bologna system adopted by the Ministry for the faculties of science and engineering for this year. This introduction of many subjects in the academic stages includes:
- Introduction of some academic subjects such as mathematics, biostatistics, organic and analytical chemistry, biological physics, and biological safety and security in the first stage. The computer subject is taught in two semesters in the first and second years.
- Addition of some general academic subjects such as Arabic language, English language, freedom, and democracy in the first stage, and the introduction of a subject on crimes of the former regime in the second stage and a subject on professional ethics in the fourth stage.
